Meditation Q & A ...
Q. Why should I meditate?
A. To live your life to the fullest.
Meditation is one of the most powerful tools there is to help you
restore the harmony within and to gain access to your body’s
inner intelligence. In meditation you rediscover the silence in
your mind and make it part of your life. Silence is the birthplace
of happiness. It is where you get your burst of inspiration, your
tender feelings of compassion, your sense of love. Meditation is a
journey to freedom and self-knowledge.
Q. What is the technique?
A. It is a mantra meditation technique
that originates from the ancient knowledge of India, and can be
easily learned by everyone.
Q. What is a mantra?
A. Mantras are the basic, most essential
sounds of nature. You are given your own mantra. It represents the
specific sound or vibration of the universe at the time and place
of your birth. When you silently repeat your mantra, your awareness
gently moves away from the frenzy of the non-stop activity of the
mind to the stillness of your spirit. This soothes your entire
physiology—mind, body and soul.
Q. Who should learn to meditate?
A. Meditation is recommended for anyone
who wishes to enjoy deeper peace, greater freedom and mastery of
life.
Q. What are the benefits of meditation?
A. During meditation your mind becomes
quiet allowing your body to gain the deep rest necessary to release
stress and fatigue. In meditation you reconnect with your essence.
This connection extends into your daily life and can result in
improved health, more fulfilling relationships, enthusiasm for life
and increased creativity.
Q. How will meditation affect my health?
A. Today doctors are increasingly citing
stress as a major factor in such illnesses as depression, anxiety,
high blood pressure, cardiac pain, insomnia, diabetes, ulcers,
colds, fever, asthma, arthritis and alcoholism. Even though
meditation should not be considered a cure by itself, research has
shown that it contributes to reducing stress and achieving deep
relaxation and a profound state of rest. By reducing stress,
meditation has important benefits for a wide range of health
problems, and also allows the mind and body to function with
maximum effectiveness.
Q. Will I need to change my lifestyle?
A. No. Meditation can be learned by people
of any age, education level, culture and religion. It does not
require specific beliefs or a change in lifestyle. The only change
or adjustment you need to make is to allow the time to meditate
regularly.
